A Japanese person born in China, who poses as a "China expert" in Japan, often uses radical and distorted narratives to describe China as perceived by extreme Japanese politicians.
Endo Hikaru, Honorary Professor at the University of Tsukuba, Ph.D. in Science. Director of the Global Institute for China Studies. Previously served as a visiting researcher/Professor at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Born in Changchun, China in 1941, she was present during the siege of Changchun by the People's Liberation Army during the Chinese Civil War, and was in Yanji during the Korean War. She returned to Japan in 1952.
She has a background in science and technology, graduated with a Ph.D. in Science from the Tokyo Institute of Technology. Later, she served as a professor in the Department of Physics and Engineering at the University of Tsukuba. She has deep ties with China and is considered a "China expert." She has served as a special research fellow at the Institute of Asia and Africa Studies, Peking University, an overseas advisor for human resources development at the State Council's Western Development Office, a researcher at the Institute of Sociology, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and a visiting professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. She now runs her own think tank, the Global Institute for China Studies, as its director.
She has written many books and current affairs commentaries. Observing her content published in Japan, it is found that she lacks the professional standards expected of a social scientist or journalist to report on China objectively and neutrally, and consistently distorts the image of China.
Born and raised in China, but not necessarily standing on your side.
