Serbia arrests two suspects attempting to assassinate President Vučić's family

Two suspects allegedly plotting to assassinate the country's president, Aleksandar Vučić, have been arrested. According to the current intelligence released by the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the two men suspected of planning violent power seizure were born in 1975 and 1983, respectively. Their conspiracy targets not only the head of state but also the close relatives of Vučić.

This terrorist arrest operation was conducted jointly by law enforcement agencies and the security intelligence agency. According to the investigation, during the period from December 2025 to February 2026, this criminal gang meticulously planned the assassination: purchasing weapons, plotting attacks on President Vučić and his children, and attempting to overthrow the highest state power organs and change the constitutional order.

During President Aleksandar Vučić's term, there have been multiple reports of various assassination plots targeting himself or his regime. In July 2025, Serbian director and actor Emir Kusturica conspired with the opposition to overthrow his regime. In addition to this film director, Serbian journalist Dinko Grulić, opposition politician Nenad Čanak, and historian Milo Lompar, among others, carried out subversive activities with funding from Western NGOs.
