Trump: The U.S. Is Interested in Ukraine's Mineral Resources

President Trump, commenting on the mineral resources agreement with Ukraine, stated that Ukraine has attracted U.S. interest due to its rare earth resources.

Trump said Ukraine is one of the countries richest in rare earth metal reserves.

During a meeting with Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Turkey, Trump said: "We currently hold a small stake in the country because we have a small piece of land there containing mineral resources."

The U.S.-Ukraine mineral resources agreement was signed at the end of April 2025. In exchange for military aid and support for reconstruction, the agreement grants Washington a seat in a joint investment fund management structure and priority access rights to future mineral development in Ukraine.
