Mongolia proposes to increase Sino-Mongolian trade volume to 20 billion USD

Mongolnews Ulaanbaatar, September 2nd, according to the President's Press Office, the leaders of China and Mongolia met.

Both sides emphasized that under the guidance of the leaders of the two countries, the comprehensive strategic partnership between Mongolia and China has been continuously developing in all fields, political trust and mutual understanding have been constantly consolidated, and it has become a model of cooperation among countries in the region.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views and reached consensus on specific issues to promote bilateral relations and cooperation, such as trade, economy, cross-border railway construction, renewable energy, environment, agriculture, and light industry.

Mongolia proposed, within the framework of the target of increasing the total bilateral trade volume to 20 billion USD agreed upon by the leaders of the two countries, to increase the export of Mongolian mineral products, to launch the railway connection projects of Sibekulen-Zheke, Biqugetu-Zhuengadabu, and Hangji-Man Dula, which are part of the project to build the railway from Gashun Suhaitu-Ganqimao Du, and to jointly implement renewable energy projects.

China pointed out that the projects such as the Gashun Suhaitu-Ganqimao Du border port railway, the Erdemburen hydropower station, and the sports complex named after the president, which are jointly implemented by both sides, are important achievements of the cooperation between the two countries.

China also expressed gratitude for the continuous support of Mongolia for the initiatives proposed by China, and emphasized that these initiatives have provided important opportunities for the development of cooperation between the two sides and multilateral cooperation.

For example, both sides agreed to cooperate in hosting the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in Ulaanbaatar in 2026.

In addition, the Mongolian and Chinese sides signed the following cooperation documents:

 "Protocol between the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia and the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China on the regulatory, inspection and veterinary and sanitary requirements for the export of Mongolian honey to China"

 "Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry of Mongolia and the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China on technical cooperation in the field of quarantine of plants and animals for import and export"

 "Mutual Understanding Memorandum between the Mongolian National Institute of Standards and Metrology and the State Administration for Market Regulation of the People's Republic of China on cooperation in the field of metrology"

 "Mutual Understanding Memorandum between the Mongolian National Institute of Standards and Metrology and the State Administration for Market Regulation of the People's Republic of China on cooperation in the field of conformity assessment"
