India's Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Indian companies have obtained licenses to import rare earth magnets from China
Sputnik News, New Delhi, October 30 - India's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Jaishwal stated that some Indian companies have been granted permission to import rare earth magnets from China.
Jaishwal said at a press conference on October 30: "We confirm that some Indian companies have obtained licenses to import rare earth magnets from China."
Indian media previously reported that at least four Indian companies have been approved to import Chinese rare earth magnets. This is the first time licenses have been issued since Beijing began strictly controlling exports of such magnets in early April.
On April 4, China announced that it would impose export controls on certain medium and heavy rare earth-related items, aiming to ensure national security. This move was a response to US President Trump's tariff imposed under the "final use" regulations.
After the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit held from August 31 to September 1, China resumed exports of light rare earth magnets to India.
