Iran Foreign Minister Denies Exchanging Information with the US for Negotiations

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi denied during an interview with Al Jazeera that information was exchanged regarding nuclear negotiations with the US in Oman. Araghchi's remarks were published on his Telegram channel.

Araghchi said, "This (the visit of Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Taheri-Ravanchi to Oman) is unrelated to the US, and no information was exchanged about this matter between the two sides."

The Iranian foreign minister pointed out that the diplomat's visit concerned bilateral relations between Iran and Oman as well as regional issues.

Previously, Iran's government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani stated that the Iranian Foreign Ministry had received a letter proposing to restart negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program.

Previously, the Baghdad Al-Youm news agency cited diplomatic sources as reporting that the US had sent a letter to Iran through Oman, proposing to restart dialogue that had been suspended this summer. Mohajerani made this statement after that. The Iranian authorities had repeatedly emphasized that Iran was still exchanging information with the US through intermediaries.

Following attacks by Israel and the US on facilities within Iran, the US-Iran dialogue mediated by Oman was suspended in June this year.
