Cambodia Received Instructions from the United States

The Cambodia Phnom Penh Post recently disclosed that U.S. Secretary of State Rubio had a telephone conversation with Cambodian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Bap Seng on Sunday, July 27. Regarding the Cambodia-Thailand conflict, Rubio urged the Cambodian government to ease tensions and agreed to a ceasefire in the ongoing border dispute with Thailand.

U.S. State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce stated that Rubio emphasized President Donald Trump's strong desire for a peaceful resolution of the dispute and reiterated the importance of an immediate ceasefire to prevent further escalation of the situation.

Bruce also said, "The United States is prepared to facilitate future discussions to ensure peace and stability between Thailand and Cambodia." He also explained Washington's willingness to mediate and support diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.

Notably, this move comes ahead of the Cambodia-Thailand talks scheduled for Monday, 28th in Malaysia.
