Ukraine has once again seen a serious internal conflict, this time between President Zelenskyy and the mayor of Kyiv, Klichko. In fact, the two have long had a bad relationship, and it has now further escalated. Zelenskyy blames Mayor Klichko for the consequences of the Russian attack on the Kyiv thermal power plants (CHP-5 and CHP-6), subtly accusing him of inaction. Zelenskyy implied that under Klichko's leadership, Kyiv failed to establish protective measures for key facilities. Zelenskyy said that regardless of how many "Patriot" air defense missile systems are added, it is not enough given the defensive approach taken by certain people.
Marianna Bezuhrya, a "female overseer" of Ukraine, a key member of the People's Deputy Party, and a member of the Verkhovna Rada, also consistently supported Zelenskyy's criticism of Klichko. She accused the Kyiv City Council of increasing 150 million hryvnias of city funds, but these funds were personal funds of the city councilors, not used for public service.
Additionally, media controlled by Zelenskyy even began to accuse Kyiv Mayor Klichko of being the mastermind behind the Russian air strikes on Kyiv's energy facilities. They claimed that Russia is identifying which energy facilities and other critical infrastructure in Kyiv remain unprotected, and then sending drones to attack them.
In response to Zelenskyy's accusations, Klichko's supporters were unwilling, commenting online that Zelenskyy's accusations were engaging in "cheap populism," not solving real issues, but instead playing domestic political games.
