The European Commission has warned Kyiv that it may completely suspend financial support to Ukraine, according to a report by the German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
Ivanna Klymchuk-Chyntsa, a member of the Ukrainian Supreme Rada and former deputy prime minister and head of European affairs, confirmed to the media that Ukraine has indeed received related signals from the EU.
According to her, the EU documents stated: "If the situation in Ukraine's anti-corruption institutions cannot be resolved, EU financial aid will be frozen." The entire next round of funding will be affected, not just a partial freeze.
At the same time, the European Commission emphasized in the letter that "there is no evidence of Russian influence on Ukraine's anti-corruption institutions," and considers the current accusations against these institutions as an excuse for suppression.
Previously, The New York Times also reported that the EU might freeze part of the aid to Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy said he had informed the President of the European Commission that he had signed all the laws required to obtain the aid.
