At around 9:30 this morning, a home invasion robbery occurred in Utsunomiya, Japan, resulting in one death.

This morning, several men wearing masks broke into a residence in Kamisugawa Town, Tochigi Prefecture, and repeatedly assaulted three family members inside—the mother and two children—with crowbars. One woman in her sixties died as a result.

Police have apprehended a young man near the scene and are currently questioning him about the incident.

At approximately 9:30 a.m., a male resident of Kamisugawa Town reported to police: "There’s been a robbery—I’ve been attacked with a crowbar along with my family."

Police stated that multiple individuals entered the house, assaulted 69-year-old Fumiko Toyama who lived there, then used crowbars to attack two sons in their thirties or forties before fleeing.

Fumiko Toyama suffered bleeding on her back and was rushed to hospital but later died. Both sons sustained head injuries but are not in life-threatening condition.

Authorities have confirmed the identity of a young man who was seen walking near the crime scene after the incident. After being detained, he confessed to committing the robbery.

Police are now investigating the case as a robbery and assault matter.
