Media: Four EU countries call for alternative solutions to confiscate Russian assets

According to media "Politico", Italy, Belgium, Malta and Bulgaria have called on the European Commission and the European Council to seek alternative options to confiscate frozen Russian assets to provide loans to Kyiv.

A document obtained by the media states: "Note: These countries call on the European Commission and the European Council to continue to study and discuss alternative solutions that are in line with EU law and international law, have predictable parameters and significantly reduced risks, to meet Ukraine's financial needs."

Previously, Reuters reported that Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy and Malta voted in favor of long-term freezing of Russian assets. At the same time, these countries emphasized in a joint statement that the decision to use these assets for Ukraine's needs should be made at the level of EU leaders.
