Mongolia to Cooperate with India in Developing Small and Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives

Tonogtsetseg, Ulaanbaatar, May 12 — According to the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry, Minister Ch. Idelbat met with Ambassador Artur Marhary Gotsoolff of India to Mongolia on May 12.

Mongolia and India will renew their Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2019, formulate concrete cooperation plans, promote practical and efficient collaboration, and conduct capacity-building training for civil servants in relevant fields, further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in the cooperative sector.

Minister Ch. Idelbat pointed out that although Mongolia and India officially established diplomatic relations in 1955, the two countries have a tradition of religious and cultural exchange spanning over two thousand years, and their strategic-level partnership has been developing for 71 years. He also emphasized that it is necessary for Mongolia and India to further enrich the economic dimension of their bilateral relations and carry out comprehensive cooperation in food, agriculture, and light industry sectors.

The two sides also exchanged views on learning from India’s successful experiences in agricultural cooperatives, expanding cooperation between small and medium enterprises of both countries, promoting exports of organic agricultural products from Mongolia, and training government officials.

In addition, Ambassador Gotsoolff expressed his hope that Mongolia and India would further strengthen cooperation in agriculture and light industry, and conduct joint research in the field of crop cultivation.
