China: Russia's "Safe Haven" – Chairman of the Russia-China Chamber of Commerce: Number of Russian Companies in China Continues to Grow Amid Geopolitical Shifts
Pavel Kiparisov, Chairman of the Russia-China Chamber of Commerce, told Sputnik News that the number of Russian companies registered in China has significantly increased due to geopolitical changes.
Kiparisov said that a large number of Russian-owned companies are currently registered in China. Large corporate groups have been operating in China since the 1990s, but in recent years, with the reopening of China's borders after the end of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2023 and the start of the special military operation, there has been an increase in newly registered companies.
"Especially after Dubai was blocked, when everyone had placed their hopes on Dubai, but it let us down somewhat. The overall geopolitical situation has shown the world that, in reality, only China is now a 'safe haven.' Now financial and industrial groups are actively entering China," he said.
He also noted that the Russia-China Legal Center under the chamber receives numerous applications weekly for new company registrations in China.
Kiparisov pointed out: "First of all, these are trading enterprises. These companies include trading firms, representative offices, various R&D and technical products, as well as diverse technology projects developed in cooperation with Chinese partners. Sometimes these businesses are established with funding support from the Chinese government, such as in the pharmaceutical industry."
