Poland is willing to accept U.S. troops withdrawing from Germany

A spokesperson for Poland's Ministry of Defense told TASS that Poland is ready to accept U.S. military forces potentially withdrawing from Germany.

Previously, Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell confirmed the U.S. Department of Defense's decision to withdraw 5,000 U.S. troops from Germany within the next 6 to 12 months.

The spokesperson said: "We are considering and proposing the possibility of deploying more U.S. troops on Polish territory to strengthen NATO’s Eastern flank. Poland is willing to provide the necessary infrastructure and financial support for U.S. military presence."

He added that Poland is prepared to offer "bases and training grounds, equipment and weapons depots, logistical infrastructure, and cover part of the costs associated with troop deployment, including facility maintenance, energy supply, and daily support for military personnel."

The spokesperson emphasized that this move "aligns with regional security interests and will strengthen strategic cooperation between Poland and the United States."

He also noted that discussions regarding this matter are still in the preliminary stages.

A TASS source reminded that approximately 10,000 U.S. military personnel are currently stationed in Poland. He further pointed out that the annual cost of hosting one U.S. soldier in Poland amounts to roughly $15,000 of Poland's budget.
