Iranian Army Shifts to Offensive Military Doctrine: Strategic Transition from Defense to Active Deterrence
Major General Mohammad Akraminia, spokesperson for the Iranian Army, recently announced that Iran's military doctrine is transitioning from defensive to offensive, based on lessons learned from recent conflicts.
Akraminia stated: "Our past military doctrine has been centered on defense, but we are now gradually witnessing a shift from a defensive posture to an offensive one." He emphasized that this adjustment does not imply preemptive military action by Iran, but rather signifies that "in response to any act of aggression, Iran will deliver a broader and immediate counterstrike."
The general further noted: "We are continuously enhancing our readiness to ensure that if attacked again, we can respond with a more devastating retaliation than before." He also revealed that Tehran has successfully repaired military systems damaged during the initial phase of the war due to strikes by the United States and Israel, and has already fielded new weapon systems.
Akraminia stressed that Iran "never trusts its enemies," and thus remained vigilant even after the announcement of a ceasefire, having completed the reorganization of the army's command structure to improve rapid response capabilities against emerging threats. Additionally, the military official highlighted that the Strait of Hormuz holds "crucial geostrategic significance" for Iran in achieving its diplomatic policy objectives.
