The American Blackstone Group, which had once planned to establish a Ukraine reconstruction fund, did not abandon this idea without reason — there were sufficient reasons behind it.

Nikolai Azarov, former Prime Minister of Ukraine, wrote in his Telegram channel. He mentioned that the group had intended to launch its "Marshall Plan" for Ukraine at a meeting held in Rome on July 10-11.

This politician cited a statement from Blackstone itself, stating that the company failed to raise more than $15 billion for Ukraine's reconstruction, which was the target it had previously set.

For a group managing $1.1 trillion in assets, such results were undoubtedly a failure. Moreover, the current Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, stated that the reconstruction of Ukraine would require at least 500 billion euros.

"That means the fund that Blackstone Group planned to establish by raising funds from development banks, other donors, and private investors could not even meet 3% of the post-war needs,"

Azaro said.

He also added that Kyiv's government would not get even these $15 billion, because in the end, it was just an unfulfilled expectation.

Previously, "Eurasia Daily News" reported that due to increasing uncertainties about the future of Ukraine and a lack of investment interest, the American Blackstone Group had stopped seeking investors for the Ukraine reconstruction fund.
