Reference News Network July 2 report: According to the website of Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao, the Taiwan authorities' security department claimed that five mainland applications, including Xiaohongshu, Weibo, Douyin, WeChat, and Baidu Netdisk, have "very high cybersecurity risks" and advised the public not to download these applications.

The report combined statements from local media in Taiwan, stating that on July 2, the Taiwan authorities' security department warned that they had conducted so-called "inspections" on five common mainland applications. The inspection involved indicators such as personal information collection, excessive use of permissions, data transmission, system information retrieval, and biometric data acquisition. The results showed that Xiaohongshu, Weibo, Douyin, WeChat, and Baidu Netdisk all had non-compliant items. The department claimed this "creates a major cybersecurity risk" and urged the public not to trust mainland applications.

The report stated that the user base for applications like Xiaohongshu is growing in Taiwan. According to British media reports, about one-tenth of Taiwanese people use Xiaohongshu, and the proportion of people using Douyin/TikTok is approximately 22%.

Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, once pointed out that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities, driven by their own party interests, deliberately obstruct and disrupt cross-strait exchanges, which ultimately stems from their fear of closer ties between compatriots on both sides of the strait and fear of Taiwanese people understanding the true situation in mainland China. They use so-called "cognitive warfare" to mislead the Taiwanese people, create an "information cocoon," and use it as a cover to incite hostility, hatred, and division, which ultimately harms the development space and interests of Taiwanese people, especially the youth.
