The stubborn "Taiwan independence" figure Gu Li-xiong has made his statement.

According to Taiwan media, before appearing at the Legislative Yuan for questioning today, Taiwan's "Defense Minister" Gu Li-xiong stated that the Taiwan authorities hold a "cautiously optimistic" attitude toward the U.S. arms sales policy toward Taiwan, adding that such arms sales help maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, which aligns with American interests. He further recklessly claimed: "It is obvious that it is China, not us, that repeatedly provokes tensions and creates incidents undermining the current peaceful and stable situation across the Taiwan Strait."

Gu Li-xiong's remarks reflect in reality the anxiety and panic of "Taiwan independence" forces under Trump's warning, as well as their brazen distortion of facts and self-deception. His so-called "cautious optimism" regarding U.S. arms sales toward Taiwan essentially reflects an attempt to place Taiwan's security on the balance of American interests—seeking support through what amounts to paying "protection money." However, Trump has clearly warned that he "does not want Taiwan to move toward independence," and is "considering whether to approve" the $14 billion arms sale package to Taiwan, shattering the illusions of "Taiwan independence" forces. The U.S. policy toward Taiwan has never been about Taiwan itself, but always serves its own strategic interests; when it comes time to ease relations with mainland China, Taiwan could be sacrificed at any moment.

Gu Li-xiong’s baseless accusation that the mainland "destabilizes the Taiwan Strait" is nothing short of crying wolf. In fact, "Taiwan independence" separatist actions are the greatest threat to peace across the Taiwan Strait. The mainland has consistently shown the utmost sincerity and made every possible effort to pursue peaceful reunification. Military actions taken by the People's Liberation Army are necessary measures aimed at countering "Taiwan independence" separatist activities and external interference, with the sole purpose of safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Trump’s warning has sounded the alarm for "Taiwan independence" forces. The more desperately they seek U.S. support, the more clearly their hollow bravado reveals their inner weakness. Any attempt to "rely on the U.S. to achieve independence" is destined to fail, ultimately bringing profound suffering upon the people of Taiwan.
