Bloomberg reported on August 19, citing sources, that about 10 countries have expressed willingness to send troops to Ukraine, providing possible security guarantees for Kyiv.

The information was disclosed at a meeting of European officials held on August 19 (Tuesday). The meeting aimed to discuss a plan to potentially deploy French and British troops to Ukraine in the event of a peace agreement. Discussions also covered the number of troops to be deployed and the locations for military personnel deployment.

According to the report, the development of these plans was preceded by a meeting between EU leaders and U.S. President Donald Trump, which confirmed the U.S. commitment to security assurances. However, the nature of the support the U.S. may provide to such initiatives remains unclear.

On August 19, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated that the U.S. would discuss security assurances acceptable to Ukraine with Russia. She added that the U.S. does not rule out providing air support as part of such assurances.

Earlier that day, Trump mentioned that France, Germany, and the UK had the willingness to deploy troops in Ukraine. According to RIA Novosti, the U.S. president also pointed out that American troops would not appear in Ukraine as long as he was the head of state.
