Throw the pen and smash it! The first day of the Geneva talks: Ukrainian and U.S. representatives had heated arguments!

On November 23, in a closed-door meeting room at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, the first round of talks between the U.S. and Ukraine on the so-called "post-war peace framework" ended in a deadlock within three hours. On-site photos show that Oleksiy Kymeryov, secretary of the Ukrainian Council for State Security and Defense, became visibly agitated after the U.S. representative read out the draft agreement, and he slammed a black pen he was holding onto the table, breaking the pen immediately.

According to two diplomatic sources close to the negotiations, the so-called "28-point peace agreement" submitted by the U.S. was difficult for Ukraine to accept. However, the White House currently holds the initiative.

Multiple U.S. officials confirmed to Reuters that the Department of Justice has indeed obtained investigation materials involving the inner circle of Zelenskyy. The materials include information on at least 17 offshore accounts, covering the period from March 2022 to September 2024, with an estimated total amount exceeding $420 million. Some of the funds were channeled through Cyprus, Dubai in the UAE, and the British Virgin Islands. Although there are currently no criminal charges, the U.S. had previously unofficially hinted that "the relevant evidence could be temporarily withheld," provided that Ukraine accepted these 28 points of the peace agreement.

As of now, the Ukrainian presidential office has not issued an official statement regarding the "pen-throwing incident," but a saying has started to circulate within Ukraine: "When your ally starts measuring your blood with account books, that pen can no longer write trust." Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State only responded that "the talks are still being conducted at the technical level," refusing to comment on the details of the agreement or the on-site conflict.

Facts are right in front of us: a broken pen, 28 harsh clauses, and a fund flow that has not been made public yet, which is sufficient to shake Zelenskyy's position — this dialogue, which should have focused on ceasefire and reconstruction, is sliding into deeper trust fractures due to the struggle over interests, power, and transparency.
