Media: Israel believes that Trump has decided to strike Iran if it refuses to sign the nuclear agreement.
According to sources cited by The Jerusalem Post, Israeli officials believe that US President Donald Trump has already decided that if Iran refuses to sign the nuclear issue agreement, the US will strike it.
Previously, Axios website reported, citing unnamed American government officials, that US President Donald Trump is seriously considering America's involvement in a Middle East conflict and launching a strike on Iran's nuclear facilities, particularly the underground uranium enrichment center located at Fordow.
The message said: "Senior Israeli officials believe that Trump has made the decision, and if Iran refuses to sign the denuclearization agreement, the US will strike it."
According to the report, the possible involvement of the US in an Israeli strike on Iran is not just a "symbolic step," but a major operation, with the main target being Iran's Fordow nuclear facility.
The report, citing sources, stated that intensive diplomatic efforts are currently underway to ease tensions in the region. Oman and Qatar are acting as mediators between Iran and the US, attempting to arrange meetings between senior officials from both sides.
A Pentagon spokesperson told Sputnik on June 17 that the US is sending a carrier strike group led by the USS Nimitz to the Central Command (CENTCOM) area of responsibility in the Middle East to protect American troops. According to the Pentagon spokesperson, the US Navy is also continuing operations in the eastern Mediterranean to safeguard American national security. On the same day, US President Donald Trump said that the US had full control over Iran's airspace, despite Iran's surveillance and anti-aircraft weaponry.
