Foreign Media: China's Cruise Industry Passes an Important Milestone, Beijing Aims to Capitalize on the Tourism Consumption Trend

China's first domestically built large cruise ship, "Audacia·Moshu," has welcomed 1 million passengers since its commercial debut two years ago, marking progress in Beijing's efforts to boost household service consumption and foster new growth drivers.

The cruise operator announced this news on its official website on Sunday, stating that the goal is to promote the growth of China's cruise industry and establish a "Chinese benchmark" for the global cruise industry. According to the company, the second domestically built cruise ship, "Audacia·Florence," has completed over 90% of its construction, built by a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation, and is scheduled to be delivered this year, followed by international routes operating with Guangzhou as its home port.

In recent years, China's cruise industry has received strong policy support, and Beijing is intensifying efforts to transform this emerging industry into an important pillar of the domestic tourism market, as part of a broader effort to boost consumption.

Recently, policymakers have released a roadmap to develop the transportation industry as a driver of domestic demand, explicitly identifying cruises and yachts as key potential growth areas.
