[Text/Observer Network Wang Yi] "Slapping" US President Trump, the liberal media CNN is always at the forefront. On the occasion of his return to the White House for a hundred days, CNN listed 100 false statements made by Trump in thirteen major categories to celebrate his "achievement."
"Apart from its astonishing frequency and brazenness, what is most striking about Trump's lies is their repetitiveness," CNN said. Some of Trump's false statements in 2025 are related to major policies, while others are only about personal preferences. He occasionally intersperses new lies among his usual falsehoods, even though many of these claims have been publicly refuted months or even years ago, but he remains unafraid.
CNN also emphasized that this list has undergone simple fact-checking and is not all of Trump's false statements since he took office on January 20th. The total number far exceeds 100; it is also not a count of the number of times Trump made false statements. Many of these 100 items have been repeatedly mentioned by him.

Seven of Trump's false statements involve inflation, filled with erroneous data and the old refrain of "blaming" the Biden administration. Among them, the fifth one is that Trump claimed that the previous President Biden's administration caused the highest inflation rate in American history. CNN not only pointed out the error of this statement but also provided a corrected version, stating that Trump could have fairly said that during Biden's term, the year-on-year inflation rate reached 9.1% in June 2022, the highest level in 40 years – although this is far from the historical record high of 23.7% set in 1920.
CNN also preemptively corrected that if Trump claimed that cumulative inflation during Biden's term had hit a record high, his statement would also be wrong. Cumulative inflation during Biden's term is approximately 21%, while cumulative inflation during former President Jimmy Carter's term was about 49%.
Seven false statements involve trade and taxation. Among them, the eleventh one points out that Trump continued to insist that "I have made 200 deals" even after being reminded that he has not reached any tariff agreements with any country. CNN noted that Trump did not achieve this, and his so-called explanation was that "the deals I choose are my own... we are a department store, setting our own prices," which had no basis either.
In nine false statements related to Ukraine, Trump threw out highly sensational comments such as "Zelenskyy admitted that half of the money we sent him disappeared." CNN also did not overlook Trump's repeated campaign promise to end the war in Ukraine on his first day in office, stating that Trump made this promise at least 53 times in 2023 and 2024 with a very serious tone, but it now seems like a joke.
In nine false statements involving immigration, Trump boasted about the achievements of his immigration expulsion actions in his first month in office, attacked former Vice President Harris as the "border czar," and claimed that the Biden administration cleared prisons and mental hospitals across the world to somehow "dump" people from these facilities into the U.S. as immigrants. Experts who study global prison systems stated they have never heard of anything like this happening.
In the eleven false statements involving diplomacy, Trump was even more "all over the place." Trump claimed that he stopped the Biden administration's plan to allocate $50 million or even hundreds of millions of dollars to purchase contraceptives for the Gaza Strip, forced South Korea to share the costs of stationing U.S. troops there, and that Japan bore none of the costs. Trump also claimed that he "eradicated" the extremist terrorist organization ISIS in just three weeks.
Interestingly, CNN only marked six false statements about China, mainly involving trade deficits between the two countries, tariffs, and the claim that China is operating the Panama Canal. Trump claimed that the U.S. trade deficit with China exceeded $1 trillion, while U.S. statistics show that the actual figure in 2024 was about $263 billion. Trump also criticized Biden, believing that Biden should be held responsible for the worsening trade deficit with China exceeding $1 trillion, but CNN "slapped back," stating that the U.S. trade deficit with China under Biden's administration last year was lower than the deficit every year during Trump's first term.
Regarding tariffs on China, Trump claimed that he "obtained thousands of billions of dollars" in tariff revenue from China, all paid by China, but in reality, these funds were paid by U.S. importers. Trump also claimed that no U.S. president before him had obtained even 10 cents in revenue from tariffs on China. CNN rebutted, stating that the U.S. has been earning income through tariffs on Chinese imports since 1789, and during the Obama administration, the U.S. earned billions of dollars annually.
Trump's claim that "China is operating the Panama Canal" was also debunked by CNN. In fact, Panama operates the canal, "this statement is an exaggeration."
CNN also pointed out that the incident Trump claimed he forced China to completely stop purchasing Iranian oil never happened.

Trump's six false statements about Europe are similar in content to his accusations against China. Most of them complain that the EU does not buy American products and "takes advantage of America." These statements were criticized by experts on European history as "absurd" and "completely wrong and inaccurate," but the expert also admitted that successive U.S. presidents have consistently supported measures to maintain stability on the European continent and promote prosperity in Europe.
Additionally, CNN debunked each of Trump's six arguments criticizing Canada for imposing high tariffs on American goods, not buying American goods, and having a $200 billion trade deficit with the U.S.
Trump, who has always looked down on green energy transitions, was caught out in eight false statements related to the environment and energy. During the California wildfires earlier this year, Trump claimed that the fires broke out because Democratic leaders in California refused to provide enough water, "because they are protecting a little-known species of minnow." Water policy experts refuted this, stating that efforts to protect the minnow are unrelated to the fires and did not hinder firefighting efforts.
CNN also listed six false statements by Trump regarding gender, health, education, and media – attacking CNN's reporting as "illegal," incorrectly claiming that the U.S. ranks last in international education rankings in 40 countries, and falsely accusing two gold medal winners in women's boxing at the Paris Olympics last year of being transgender...
Elections and his popularity are the areas where Trump was most "debunked" by CNN. Among the sixteen relevant false statements, Trump's descriptions such as "the 2020 election was completely rigged," "the Biden administration is only good at cheating," and "my campaign never had empty seats" were all countered by CNN with "completely baseless" and "groundless" one after another.
To help himself and participants absolve themselves of guilt over the January 6, 2021 "Capitol riot" incident, Trump made five false claims, saying that participants "did not attack," "did not have guns," and that the House Select Committee "deleted and destroyed all the information they collected" during their investigation of the event, and that former Speaker Pelosi rejected his proposal to send 10,000 National Guardsmen to protect the Capitol Building.
In the final four statements about the federal government, he still targeted Biden. Trump claimed that the Special Investigator's investigation into Biden's handling of classified documents found that Biden was "basically guilty," adding that "no one knows the verdict."
CNN pointed out that Biden has not been found guilty, and whether "basically" guilty or not, there has been no judicial "verdict," and Biden has not faced any criminal charges. Special Prosecutor Robert Hur wrote in his report that "there is insufficient evidence to prove that Mr. Biden is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt."
