US media: Chinese delegation to go to US Treasury for trade-related working consultations; Trump demands UN Secretary-General to investigate the "deliberate sabotage" incident during the General Assembly
American Fox Business Channel reporter Edward Lawrence quoted sources saying that a Chinese expert delegation will visit the US Treasury on Thursday to hold working consultations on trade and economic issues.
Lawrence posted on social media X that this consultation will not involve the TikTok transaction, nor is it a new round of trade negotiations, but will focus on technical details of previously discussed issues.
Lawrence added that during the visit, US leaders will not meet with Chinese experts.
US President Donald Trump announced on his self-created social platform "Truth Social" that he is writing a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, requesting an investigation into events that occurred during his visit to the United Nations General Assembly.
Trump wrote, "This is not a coincidence - it is triple deliberate sabotage within the United Nations. They should be ashamed. I am sending a copy of this letter to the Secretary-General and demanding an immediate investigation."
Trump added that the US Secret Service is also involved in the investigation process.
On Tuesday, when Trump arrived at the United Nations headquarters, he was stuck on an escalator. Later, he mentioned this incident on the General Assembly podium.
According to Sputnik News citing internal sources from UN agencies, the upward escalator suddenly stopped because someone accidentally triggered the safety mechanism. The Secretary-General's spokesperson office confirmed this statement and pointed out that the person responsible might be a staff member of the US delegation.
In addition, during Trump's speech, the teleprompter did not start immediately. Trump also pointed out the sound problem. He claimed that only people wearing translation earphones could hear his speech in the room.
