Trump's signature will first appear on $100 bills in June

The U.S. Department of the Treasury issued a statement saying that the first batch of $100 bills featuring President Donald Trump's signature will begin circulation in June, breaking a long-standing tradition.

According to Reuters, quoting the statement: "In commemoration of the 250th anniversary of American independence, President Donald Trump's signature will appear on $100 bills — marking the first time an incumbent head of state's signature has been featured on U.S. currency. At the same time, this marks the first time in 165 years that the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury's signature has been removed from banknotes."

The report notes that issuing banknotes without the Treasury Secretary's signature is an unprecedented move, breaking a tradition strictly followed for 165 years.

Previously, the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts unanimously approved a design for a 24-karat gold commemorative coin to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence. The commission told TASS that the front of the coin will depict President Donald Trump in his Oval Office, fists clenched on his desk, while the reverse features the traditional bald eagle motif.
