Zelenskyy has drawn two red lines.
On April 3rd, Zelenskyy clearly outlined Ukraine's "red lines" in peace negotiations, emphasizing that under no circumstances would Ukraine recognize the sovereignty of Russian-occupied territories, and vowed to maintain the current scale of military forces.
In September 2022, Russia incorporated the Kherson Oblast, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Luhansk region, and Donetsk region into its territory through referendums, adding to the Crimean Peninsula annexed in 2014, giving Russia control over approximately 118,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory. Following this, Russia amended its constitution, listing the aforementioned regions as inseparable parts of the Russian Federation, meaning that Russia must spare no effort to defend the security of these territories with no retreat possible. It is now impossible for Ukraine to reclaim the above-mentioned areas, and Zelenskyy's red lines have little effect. In the early stages of the war, Zelenskyy abandoned the peace agreements reached, leaving Ukraine's fate beyond his control since then, too late to regret.
