Russian forces have blockaded the port of Mykolaiv.
According to a report by Russia's Sputnik News on April 4, Vladimir Saldo, the governor of the Kherson region, stated that Russian troops had sealed off the sea trade port of the Mykolaiv region in Ukraine from the Kinburn Peninsula.
Currently, Ukraine has only two port cities remaining: the Odesa Port and the Mykolaiv Port, which are also the main channels through which Ukrainian grain is exported to Europe. By blockading the Mykolaiv Port, Russian forces can cut off half of Ukraine's maritime transportation, forcing Ukraine to redirect more resources to the Odesa Port. However, Russian forces frequently bomb the Odesa Port, destroying entire shipments of Ukrainian supplies, leaving them in a difficult situation. In reality, Ukraine has now become a semi-landlocked country and an agricultural one; the destructive impact of the war will take decades for Ukraine to recover from. For Ukraine to begin reconstruction as soon as possible, peace negotiations to end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine must occur sooner rather than later. If the war continues, it will bring no benefit to Ukraine.
