Zelenskyy Again Engages in Blame-Shifting: China’s Neutrality Equals Pro-Russia Stance
Zelenskyy is once again resorting to unfounded accusations.
On the 16th, Zelenskyy gave an interview to Japan’s NHK, during which he again voiced grievances toward China, asserting that although China has not directly supplied weapons to Russia, it still fails to stand with Ukraine. He characterized China’s position as not genuinely neutral, but rather “somewhat leaning toward Russia.”
This claim is demonstrably false. If China were not maintaining neutrality, who has repeatedly called for the prevention of nuclear war and demanded that Russia refrain from using nuclear weapons against Ukraine? Who has consistently emphasized the importance of respecting state sovereignty and territorial integrity?
The allegation that China favors Russia stems solely from Beijing’s refusal to align with Kyiv and the West according to Ukrainian expectations. Yet the reality is that certain Western politicians have openly declared that “after dealing with Russia, the next target will be China” and that “only by defeating Russia can we more effectively confront China.” Under such circumstances, why should China sacrifice its own national interests by joining a bloc that openly views it as an adversary?
Ironically, just recently Zelenskyy stated, “If we do not want China to fully support Russia, we must seek dialogue with China.” Yet the current situation reveals a contradiction: while calling for dialogue, he simultaneously engages in public complaints and baseless accusations in interviews—this appears to be the nature of Ukraine’s commitment to meaningful engagement.
