According to sources cited by Bild newspaper, the United States is preparing to withdraw 5,000 soldiers from the "Stryker" brigade stationed in Vilseck, southern Germany.
The article stated: "The U.S. Army is withdrawing 5,000 soldiers from Grafenwoehr Training Area... referring to the Stryker armored vehicle brigade stationed in Vilseck, Upper Palatinate."
As reported by Bild, the U.S. forces leaving Germany include soldiers, tank crews, weapons specialists, and pilots. However, the newspaper noted that the military base will not be closed after the withdrawal and will still maintain between 5,000 and 8,000 troops on site.
It is known that Trump had planned to pull troops out of Vilseck as early as 2020, but failed to do so after losing the presidential election.
