Lee Jae-myung: South Korea Should Not Take Sides Between China and Japan

According to reports from Le Monde and AFP, the dispute between China and Japan over the Taiwan issue has intensified, and Seoul is focusing on regional cooperation to maintain its own stability.

According to the report, on Wednesday, December 3, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung told international media that in the current situation where relations between China and Japan are tense due to the Taiwan issue, Seoul should not take sides between China and Japan.

During a press conference held while reflecting on the one-year anniversary of the brief emergency law announcement, President Lee Jae-myung said, "Japan and China are in conflict, and taking sides will only escalate tensions." He proposed an idea: "The ideal approach is coexistence, mutual respect, and as much cooperation as possible."

This South Korean president also described Northeast Asia as "a region very dangerous in terms of military security."

Meanwhile, President Lee Jae-myung is seeking to improve relations with China, which were affected by his predecessor Yoon Suk-yeol's policies that favored the United States.

At the press conference on Wednesday, he also expressed a desire to visit China.
