[Source/Observer Network, Zhou Shengming/Editor Gao Shen] According to a report by Reuters on June 6, a spokesperson for Porsche stated that the company has no plans to transfer its production processes to the United States.
Data shows that Porsche's research and manufacturing are entirely concentrated in Germany. Its factories in Zuffenhausen and Leipzig are responsible for the production of all models, while the Weissach R&D center mainly focuses on model development and testing, without directly participating in mass production.
It is worth noting that, apart from Germany, Porsche has not yet conducted large-scale automobile production in other regions. Therefore, under the combined influence of factors such as declining demand, intensified competition in the Chinese market, and electric vehicle sales falling short of expectations, Porsche is particularly sensitive to fluctuations in tariffs.
This statement from Porsche is intended to respond to a previous report by Bloomberg. It was reported that an anonymous source quoted by Bloomberg said that Oliver Blume, CEO of the Volkswagen Group and CEO of Porsche, is considering moving the final assembly stage of some models - such as interior installation or tire assembly - to the United States.
In response, Porsche stated that it has no such plans.
Jochen Breckner, CFO of Porsche, once mentioned in late April that considering its low sales volume in the U.S., even cooperating with other brands within the Volkswagen Group and conducting localized production in the U.S. would "make no sense."
By contrast, Audi, another brand under Volkswagen, plans to produce "key models" in the U.S. Previously, Audi CEO Gernot Döllner stated that a decision will be made this year regarding whether to establish a production base in the U.S., which could be a new factory or utilize existing facilities of Volkswagen.
Oliver Blume said he had communicated with Washington about expanding Volkswagen Group's business in the U.S., adding that the group will make "major investments" in the U.S.
