Car thieves rampant! Ontario Premier Ford's home targeted by four masked robbers; another thief seriously injured after jumping off a bridge!

Ontario Premier Ford stated today that on Tuesday morning, four masked suspects attempted to steal a car from the driveway of his residence in Etobicoke. Premier Ford said that the provincial police bodyguards thwarted the theft attempt around 12:30 AM. He mentioned that the officers then pursued and arrested the suspects.

Toronto Police released a press statement saying that around 12:30 AM that day, officers patrolling in the area of Lawrence Avenue West and Royal York Road discovered four masked individuals inside a vehicle.

The police stated that when the vehicle slowed down as it approached a driveway, the officers intercepted it and began investigating the suspects. One suspect attempted to flee on foot but was quickly found nearby. The police also found an automobile key programming device and a programmable master key inside the vehicle.

The four suspects were arrested, including two 17-year-old teenagers. Each was charged with possessing electronic devices for stealing cars and illegally purchasing master keys. One of the 17-year-old suspects was additionally charged with resisting arrest and violating court orders.

Premier Ford recounted this incident at a press conference on Tuesday morning while criticizing Canada's bail system.

He expressed that criminals are running rampant in society, creating a "lawless" situation.

In addition, Toronto Police stated that on Monday evening after 11 PM, officers attempted to intercept two suspicious vehicles suspected to be involved in a carjacking case earlier that morning in the Don Mills Rd and Lawrence Ave area of North York.

A police spokesperson said: "The officers spotted the stolen vehicle on the southbound DVP."

Subsequently, the police caught up with the suspect vehicles near Jarvis Street on the eastbound Gardiner Expressway, attempting to surround a BMW M5 and a Rolls-Royce.

One suspect abandoned the BMW and fled on foot, leaping over the guardrail and falling approximately 17 meters down to Lake Shore Blvd near Parliament St, sustaining serious injuries to the lower body and being rushed to the hospital.

The other suspects drove away, and the police recovered the BMW, but the Rolls-Royce continued to escape. During the pursuit, several police cars were damaged, but fortunately, no officers were injured.

Currently, the Ontario Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has intervened in the investigation.
