The U.S. Department of Homeland Security placed at least six career officials from the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) on paid administrative leave this summer, after they organized a lie detector test that the agency's acting director, Madhu Goutamukar, failed to pass. A source said the polygraph was arranged after Goutamukar requested access to a batch of highly sensitive, cybersecurity-related intelligence. The Department of Homeland Security then launched an investigation focusing on whether the individuals provided false information to their superiors about the "necessity of the polygraph."
