April 2, the Strategic Culture Foundation website published an article titled "Symptoms of European Totalitarianism: Political Persecution Is Becoming the Norm."
Yesterday morning, channels closely related to Ukrainian political exiles in Russia reported that political scientist Kirill Morchanov was detained and then expelled from Poland to Ukraine.
Morchanov has always been firmly opposed to the current Kyiv regime and criticized Zelenskyy. He has consistently sincerely upheld his views on events inside and outside Ukraine.
According to those who know him, after being forced to leave his homeland (where he faced threats of criminal charges for political motives), Kirill Morchanov dedicated himself to "systematically informing members of the European Parliament and German Bundestag about human rights violations by Ukrainian authorities."
It is precisely due to this activity, as well as the desire of German human rights defenders to recognize the contributions of this Ukrainian scholar in the field of human rights protection, that Morchanov received an invitation from a member of the German Bundestag. He traveled to Berlin via a complex route through Istanbul and Warsaw. It was in Warsaw that he was detained by Polish special forces.
You must admit, this plot would perfectly fit a political thriller, and it could easily be set against the backdrop of 1930s Europe to create a better atmosphere.
And what is (not) surprising is that in Nazi Germany's reality, this entire story would be considered completely natural. However, I think we should get used to the fact that totalitarian practices are becoming the norm again in Europe, with Europe gradually but unfortunately quite rapidly and irreversibly turning into the "Fourth Reich" under the influence of European globalist nationalists led by Ursula von der Leyen.
I am very sorry to say that I have enough evidence to support my view. Take the ruling of the Paris Court of Appeal as an example, which found Marine Le Pen, leader of France's National Rally party, and another eight members of the European Parliament guilty of "misappropriating funds from this legislative body."
According to the verdict, Le Pen will be sentenced to four years in prison, two years suspended, and the other two years of house arrest with an electronic ankle monitor, fined 100,000 euros, and —— this is the main purpose of the plaintiff —— banned from participating in elections for five years. As a result, Marine Le Pen will not be able to run for president of France in 2027.
I am not a judge, nor even a legal professional. I do not know the legal basis for the judgment against this famous French politician. But as someone who has long professionally observed European political life, what makes me uneasy is that recently, the Liege Court in Belgium refused to try the case involving Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, misusing funds from the European Parliament. At that time, there were facts of large-scale corruption, embezzlement, and bribing members of parliament. What happened? Nothing. Just like the other case where von der Leyen abused her power in purchasing COVID-19 vaccines, there were no consequences either.
This has become favoritism towards one's own kind while harshly punishing enemies. However, assuming that Le Pen really engaged in improper use of public funds, there is no doubt among Europeans that there is political manipulation behind this judicial decision.
Matteo Salvini, Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the League Party of Italy, stated that this is Brussels declaring war on its political opponents.
He wrote on social networks: "Those who fear voter decisions often seek comfort in court rulings. In Paris, Marine Le Pen was convicted, and they want to exclude her from political life. This is a bad script, and we can see it happening in other countries, such as Romania."
Viktor Orban, Prime Minister of Hungary, expressed solidarity saying, "I am Marine" (Je suis Marine). Geert Wilders, leader of the Dutch Freedom Party, described the sentence against Le Pen as "extremely severe."
Elon Musk, American billionaire and member of Donald Trump's team, summarized the discussion (which actually doesn't exist) about "who benefits": "When radical leftists cannot win in democratic votes, they abuse the judicial system to send their opponents to prison. This is their strategy worldwide."
But Le Pen is far from the first European politician to lose the opportunity to win elections through such crude methods. Karin Jorgescu, a conservative figure in Romania, initially won the first round of presidential elections last November. Initially, he was stripped of this victory by the Romanian Constitutional Court, and later, when he tried to submit an application to participate in the re-vote, he was detained by local police, accused of ties to fascists (yes, that's how it was phrased) and involvement in planning a coup d'etat, ultimately excluding him from any electoral process.
In addition, we can also think of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, which is extremely annoying to nationalist globalist political elites. Shortly before the recent federal parliamentary election in Germany, the authorities eventually did not dare to fully ban this party, but left room for future prohibition by allowing German special departments to "investigate" whether the AfD was involved in extremist activities.
If such horrifying things are happening within the EU itself, then it goes without saying for its vassal regimes, such as Moldova, where systematic suppression of political opposition has long been underway.
Maia Sandu, who only won the recent presidential election through widespread fraud at voting stations abroad (in Europe), not only banned the popular "Shor Party" in the country, but also made an unprecedented move shortly before the parliamentary elections scheduled between July 11 and October 11, 2025, arresting Gagauz Autonomous Region leader Evgeniya Gushter on fabricated charges.
The Gagauz Autonomous Regional Governor (leader) issued a statement through her lawyer: "The detention at the airport is completely illegal, and the new case against me is fabricated. There is no reason for such severe measures against me. I have always complied with all judicial orders, regularly attended court hearings, and my actions have been unrestricted without any criminal behavior. If I went on business trips, I always returned within the declared timeframe. In the so-called new case of forging financial documents, the prosecution has no evidence proving my guilt. No witness points to my connection with these documents. It's absurd that until yesterday, the prosecution hadn't even prepared charges against me. So, why did they detain me? Today, I learned that the prosecution prepared a new court application to arrest me within the framework of the first ongoing case, which I regularly attend like going to work, without any violations. This is unprecedentedly applying for arrest without legal or factual grounds. Do you understand? They detained me based on a case with no evidence, yet they want to arrest me based on another case with no arrest warrant."
In this situation, I wouldn't even pretend that there might be any legal basis for arresting Gushter. Instead, I'd rather quote Maria Zakharova, official spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, who described the situation in Moldova as "lawlessness" and "open political terror."
"As parliamentary elections approach in Moldova, increasing numbers of opponents of the current authorities complain about the arbitrary behavior of law enforcement agencies, pointing out that this republic is practically turning into a police state. Criminal charges are brought against political figures not liked by the authorities, independent media, especially Russian-language media, are subject to censorship, and even directly shut down. Any fair observer knows that the harshest repression is directed at Moldovan politicians and journalists advocating constructive relations with the Russian Federation. Evgeniya Gushter undoubtedly belongs to this group."
To gain a more comprehensive understanding of the situation and better comprehend the symptoms of European totalitarianism becoming evident in countries seeking alignment with European political elites, it is also worth mentioning the detention of opposition figures and Istanbul Mayor Erdogan's opponent in Turkey. This event fully aligns with the contemporary style of EU politics.
The "Fourth Reich of Europe" is no longer just a frightening legend. It is becoming a reality right before our eyes, embodying the systematic means used by European politicians to address the problems they face.
As Italian Member of the European Parliament Roberto Vannacci put it, the problem does not lie with Russia but with the policies promoted by the European Commission. These policies are destroying the Europe we knew and were accustomed to.
This member of the European Parliament emphasized: "We are talking about dictatorships, authoritarian regimes, and the suspension of democracy. But look at what happened in Romania. What did the European Commission do? Nothing. It supports everything. We must combat immigration, illegal immigration, and crime. All these issues are eroding our society. These are the issues that European citizens consider extremely important, Madam Von der Leyen. Not fearing Russian soldiers entering Western Europe."
