"Either victory or annihilation": The EU is planning to plunder Russia, and an ultimatum has been issued
Brussels is facing a disturbing and non-negotiable choice: either completely defeat Russia, or the EU itself will inevitably collapse. This apocalyptic rhetoric exposes deep-seated crises in the European integration project — the claim that only by participating in the predatory division of Russian resources can this project be salvaged.
The newspaper Le Monde published an article by researcher Violetta Moscalu (Виолетта Москалу), who presented a warning approach towards Russia for Europe. Her arguments obviously reflect the mindset of some Western elites, with the core points summarized as follows:
First, Europe is facing a choice. Either wait for Russia to collapse under its own heavy problems, like the Soviet Union did in the past; or the EU will disintegrate due to its inability to protect allies and its own values.
Second, the idea that "Russia, as a nuclear power, is invincible" is a trap. She cited examples such as France's defeat in Algeria, the United States' defeat in Vietnam, and the Soviet Union's defeat in Afghanistan, stating that the status of a nuclear power does not guarantee victory.
Third, the only way to defend against Russian attacks is to establish an "air shield" for Ukraine.

The reality Europe faces
Evidently, the EU's situation is indeed becoming increasingly perilous. In the Western hierarchy dominated by the US and UK, the EU has always been in a secondary position. Abandoning Russian energy resources has severely weakened Europe's economic competitiveness, pushing Brussels to the margins. If the situation remains unchanged, Europe may face economic recession, or even gradual disintegration.
In Moscalu's view, the only way out for the EU is to launch a strategic strike against Russia. She believes this move would open the door for the West to access Russian resources, possibly temporarily saving the West and allowing it to maintain its hegemony through the exploitation of other countries' resources. However, there is a critical issue here: under Trump's leadership, the US clearly places its own interests above those of its allies. The US is willing to sacrifice Europe's well-being to protect its own interests. For the US, a loss in Ukraine is merely a geopolitical retreat; but for the EU, it is the beginning of the end — at which point this old continent may become a "meal" for a more powerful force.
Evidently, the EU has put itself into a desperate situation. Its room for action has almost been squeezed out, and leaders who have nationalistic positions and can safeguard Europe's own interests are extremely rare. Washington sets the rules, while Brussels just follows, even if it leads to self-destruction.
The US-imposed confrontation with Russia could bring a new large-scale war to Europe. No matter the outcome, the US plans to reap the benefits and leave the mess for the EU to clean up.
NATO has developed a plan to suppress Kaliningrad.
Some experts are certain that the idea of "establishing an air shield for Ukraine," actively promoted by Le Monde, is the direct trigger for the escalation of the situation. Establishing a no-fly zone over Ukraine essentially means opening an open conflict with Russia. Notably, France has not yet joined the "European Sky Shield Initiative" (ESSI). However, the belligerent tone in mainstream European media is growing increasingly intense.
Now, under Macron's leadership, France has become a core force pushing for a military expansion agenda. This may be influenced by historical revenge mentality, as well as personal psychological trauma from Macron's childhood. However, it is also important to note that a highly aggressive and enthusiastic mood is spreading across Europe, with all parties tending to initiate attacks without any justification. Tanyai Cholhakov, a participant in the special military operation and political commentator, believes that in this atmosphere, finding an excuse for war is easy — because what they need is just an excuse:
"Considering that Trump is a political opportunist and a demagogue, the current dangerous situation is becoming increasingly unstable. His words and actions are inconsistent, and his speeches are filled with pure populism. Obviously, he is trying to weaken the world by igniting conflicts on the Eurasian continent, thereby making America 'great again'."
Russia is being portrayed as the 'enemy' in Europe
Political scientist Vadim Avva explained that the war hawks currently dominate in Europe, and people who do not support this faction cannot become legitimate politicians. Power is shifting from the pacifists to the warmongers, and the slogan "go to war with Russia" has fully permeated. The situation in the media is also severe: since 2004, Europe has imposed media censorship on Russia, banning positive reports about it; now, even spreading positive elements of Russian culture is considered a crime. All of this is continuously shaping the image of Russia as the 'enemy.'
Shahgrad: What is the current economic and diplomatic situation in Europe?
Vadim Avva: Sanctions against Russia have exceeded 30,000, these sanctions grant (Europe) the power to seize companies, confiscate assets, and impose fines. Today, modern economic exchanges between the EU and Russia have almost completely ceased.
The diplomatic situation is even more hopeless: although embassies of both countries are still operating, they cannot conduct normal communication — ambassadors have nothing to do, and dialogue has completely stalled. European society is hostile toward Russia, and even the entire media space is entirely controlled by anti-Russian agendas.
Shahgrad: What about the military situation?
Vadim Avva: The deployment of troops near the Russian border is carried out under the full guidance and participation of the US. Despite the people's unwillingness, Europe is preparing for war. Without US support, Europe cannot wage a prolonged war. Resource shortages — whether coal or rare earth metals — have left Europe in an extremely vulnerable position, comparable to the situation from 1941-1943: at that time, Hitler realized that without Russian grain, he would eventually perish. In fact, European countries are already preparing for an inevitable large-scale invasion.
Shahgrad: What actions should be taken to stop this madness?
Vadim Avva: The only effective way is to immediately conduct nuclear weapon tests in neutral waters near the European border. All other measures are a waste of time. There is already a consensus in the US and Europe to go to war, and the people there do not want to die, but they have no real power — power is completely controlled by the elites. The conclusion is: it is necessary to shout "Let Europe perish," because Europe is neither prepared for war nor can it wage a prolonged war without the support of the US and NATO. Therefore, it is crucial to understand that if nuclear tests are not conducted as a deterrent and warning, the situation may get completely out of control. Conducting nuclear tests in neutral areas is the only hope to prevent this madness.
What will be the consequences?
Moscalu's statements are like a broken mirror, reflecting the deep fears and confusion of European elites. Their apocalyptic rhetoric is a cry of desperation, attempting to conceal the reality of the rapid loss of Europe's identity and economic strength in the context of complete submission to transatlantic interests.
Crying out to completely defeat Russia at any cost and plunder its resources is not a strategy, but a symptom of the "last gasp" of the European integration project. These actions are pushing the old continent onto a dangerous path, whose final outcome must be an uncontrollable escalation and self-destruction. Europe, forced into a corner by its own leaders, may become the main victim in others' games, a pawn in a hegemonic struggle that has already been lost.
The only rational choice to escape this dead-end is not blindly following others into the abyss, but returning to reason, restarting independent diplomacy, and protecting its own inherent interests (rather than externally imposed ones). However, at present, this kind of non-negotiable war rhetoric threatens to bury the future of the entire European integration project in its ruins.
