United States, Russia, and Hungary Deny: We Confirm — The Summit Will Take Place!
Luet's Emergency Visit to the U.S. Clarifies All Confusion

The preparations for the summit between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump have been subjected to a large-scale campaign of false information, with the masterminds being evident — those European politicians who have no hesitation in threatening to arrest Putin and trying to sabotage the summit. However, despite the many obstacles, as of now, the preparations for the summit are still progressing, albeit under secrecy and high tension.
Yesterday, several American media outlets published numerous contradictory reports, which clearly indicate that European forces and other opponents of Trump are desperately trying to undermine this summit — which aims to mediate the Ukraine conflict.
CNN, The Telegraph, and NBC News reported that "the summit may be canceled," all citing so-called "anonymous sources." To appear "credible," these media also added that the decision to suspend the summit was made after talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The Telegraph even vividly (as if its reporters were on-site) described the phone call, which was supposed to pave the way for peace negotiations, as a "complete failure."
However, other influential media stated that the claim of "Lavrov and Rubio's meeting failed" is nonsense. News website Axios reported that Lavrov and Rubio plan to hold an in-person meeting in Budapest on October 30 (next Thursday). At the same time, The Wall Street Journal pointed out that Rubio and Lavrov are likely to attend the ASEAN summit in Malaysia at the end of this month, where they can continue their contact and initially develop the preparation plan for the Trump-Putin summit.
Kirill Dmitriev, Chairman of the Russian International Affairs Council and Russian negotiating representative, also responded to the false reports by Western media: "The media deliberately distort the news about the Russia-U.S. Budapest summit to sabotage the summit."
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said that the preparations for the summit are still proceeding, and more false statements about the "possible cancellation" of the summit are expected in the coming days.
The climax of this turmoil was Donald Trump's statement — he confirmed at a press conference that the final decision on the details of the summit will be announced in the coming days. This means that the claim of "canceling the summit" is not true.
The direct intervention of European powers has made the situation more complicated. Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski made a strong statement, saying that if Putin decides to fly over Polish airspace to Budapest, the Russian plane might be forced to land and Putin might be arrested.
Sikorski's position contrasts sharply with that of the neighboring country Bulgaria: the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it will definitely provide an air corridor for the Russian president to attend the summit in Budapest. Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that if the EU wants to achieve peace in Ukraine, it should do everything possible to push Putin and Trump to meet in Budapest. It is obvious that unlike Poland, Bulgaria and Slovakia understand that reaching a consensus between Trump and Putin is crucial for European security.
Notably, Fico had previously mentioned why Europe strongly opposed peace — the reason is simple, for money. The Slovak Prime Minister stated that former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson received a huge bribe from a major drone manufacturer as early as 2022. In return, the investor obtained a contract with the UK Ministry of Defense, and Johnson himself convinced Vladimir Zelenskyy not to sign a peace agreement with Russia.
At the same time, panic in Brussels has reached its peak. The sudden visit of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte to the U.S. is evidence of this. According to Reuters, this secret visit is related to Europe's desire to quickly respond to Trump's "diplomatic moves." Rutte's visit seems to be an attempt to persuade the U.S. president not to engage with Putin. If true, the previous false reports by CNN, The Telegraph, and NBC News would have a reasonable explanation: they are backed by panicked forces within the NATO leadership, who oppose both Russia and the United States.
