April 14, Finance Union讯 (Editor Huang Junzhi) On the evening of last Friday, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, responsible for imposing tariffs, announced that a series of products would be excluded from the originally announced "reciprocal tariffs." These categories include communication equipment (smartphones), computers, semiconductor devices, integrated circuit components, etc., which made the market breathe a sigh of relief.

By last Sunday, Trump changed his mind again: he denied that these tariff exemptions were equivalent to "exceptions," instead arguing that these products had been transferred to different tariff "categories," and hinted that his administration might still impose separate tariffs on the semiconductor industry and broader electronic product supply chains.

In response, senior Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren criticized Trump once again, stating that he had no tariff policy or plan to implement.

"Look, there is no tariff policy. It's chaos and corruption everywhere. That's what we are dealing with. How can you trust these people?" she said in a program.

"They say there is an emergency. They impose a 10% tariff on almost every country in the world. What is the emergency with Belgium and what is the emergency with South Korea?" Warren said.

Warren angrily accused, "Donald Trump and the Republicans are like they throw a five-gallon bucket of paint over the entire economy and say, 'Okay, this will solve all problems.' They try to impose tariffs on every country, almost all exports to the United States, and they try to do it all at once without any policy."

She emphasized that trade turmoil and uncertainty would prevent companies from investing in the United States: "What we see now is chaos, and investors won't invest in the United States when Donald Trump keeps switching the traffic lights between red and green on the tariff issue."

In addition, Warren called on Democrats to jointly oppose President Trump's tariffs rather than waiting for the courts to possibly intervene. Previously, she urged the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to investigate whether President Trump manipulated the market to benefit his Wall Street donors.

"The courts may intervene, but we don't have to wait for the courts. The question is whether Republicans will join us," she said.

Last week, Warren also called on Congress to take action against Trump's tariffs. She pointed out that this was one of the powers granted to Congress and asked Democrats to encourage Republican lawmakers to join their ranks.

Senate Democrats are seeking a mandatory vote to pass a resolution to terminate the state of emergency declared by Trump and revoke the 10% tariff imposed on all imported goods as well as the massive tariffs on China imposed by Trump.

"A vote will take place in about 15 days, and Republicans can choose whether their sole job is to bow down to Donald Trump, or whether congressional Republicans can say their job is to defend the American people, defend the American economy, and stop what Donald Trump is doing," she said.
