Amid the global surge in memory chip prices, domestic memory has finally stopped "holding back its face".
On November 23, Observer Net learned that the domestic memory chip manufacturer Changxin Memory officially launched its latest DDR5 product series at the IC China 2025 (China International Semiconductor Exhibition): with a maximum speed of 8000Mbps and a maximum die capacity of 24Gb, both reaching international leading levels. It also simultaneously introduced seven module products covering the entire fields of servers, workstations, and personal computers.
At the exhibition booth, Changxin Memory showcased its latest DDR5 product series, as well as the latest LPDDR5X mobile memory with a maximum rate of 10667Mbps and a maximum die capacity of 16Gb. According to the introduction, these two product series rank among the first tier in terms of both speed and capacity, marking that their product performance and layout have fully reached the global mainstream high-end level. Domestic memory chips now have the technical strength to compete with top international manufacturers.

With the continuous growth of processor core numbers and AI model sizes, the demand for memory rates in computing systems is rapidly increasing.
Observer Net learned that Changxin Memory's latest 8000 Mbps DDR5 chips represent a 25% increase in speed compared to the 6400 Mbps products. Currently, 6400 Mbps represents the mainstream performance level for servers and high-end PCs, while 8000 Mbps has entered the top-tier performance level internationally.
In terms of memory capacity, Changxin Memory has focused on introducing 24Gb high-capacity chips in addition to standard 16Gb chips. This offers significant advantages for large-scale data centers, significantly enhancing the system's model loading capability and multi-task processing efficiency without occupying additional physical slots, meeting the urgent need for rapid expansion of data centers.
Indeed, this is not the first time that domestic DDR5 has made an appearance. As early as December last year, Observer Net reported that the first domestic DDR5 memory chips had already been mass-produced and launched. At that time, memory brands such as Kingmax and Guangwei stated that the emergence of domestic DDR5 marked a crucial step forward in domestic storage chip technology. This was both a technological leap and a major victory for domestic chips.

Besides DDR used in servers and computers, Changxin Memory has also been active in the LPDDR series used in mobile devices. This time, it also displayed its latest LPDDR5X product released in October. This product is low-power memory developed for flagship mobile market products, with a maximum speed of 10667Mbps, and includes various packaging solutions with capacities of 12GB, 16GB, 24GB, and 32GB.
The background of Changxin Memory's appearance is that the global memory chip prices are continuously surging. According to data from TrendForce, the DRAM contract price in the fourth quarter of 2025 has increased by more than 75% compared to the same period last year. Estimating that the cost of memory accounts for about 10-15% of the total BOM cost of a machine, this cost has been increased by 8-10%. For example, the price of Acer Predator DDR5 memory modules was around 6200 yuan in late September, but it had soared to 8000 yuan by around November 20.
Toby Gorman, president of semiconductor distributor FusionWorldwide, recently said in an interview that the contract price of 32GB DDR5 server memory delivered by Samsung Electronics in November has surged from 149 dollars in September to 239 dollars, an increase of 60%. TrendForce expects that as one of the main types of memory chips, DRAM will bring the industry a revenue of more than four times the lowest point of the 2023 cycle—reaching a historical high of about 231 billion US dollars.
Under the current booming market situation, Luo Xiaodong, head of the market center at Changxin Memory, stated that the explosive growth in DRAM demand has had a huge impact on market supply and prices. China needs stable domestic DRAM production capacity. Through capacity expansion and economies of scale, it can reduce reliance on overseas manufacturers' production capacity.
Aside from the memory field, domestic flash memory used in solid-state drives is also continuously breaking through. On November 19, at the 2025 Data Storage Industry Conference, Academician Ni Guangnan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Director of the Strategic Advisory Committee of the Data Storage Branch of the China Electronic Standardization Association, stated that Changjiang Memory's 232-layer 3D flash memory chips have been mass-produced, representing the most advanced level in the industry. The first fully domestically produced production line has already started material introduction. China's SSD controller manufacturers have also rapidly emerged, with dozens of companies having successfully commercialized independently developed SSD controllers, offering good user experience.
"In the industry chain, the main components include storage systems and storage machines. The overall technology of China in this field has reached an international leading level. Domestic storage has been widely applied in the core production systems of key industries such as finance, government, operators, and healthcare. Therefore, China's data storage industry chain is basically complete, not only achieving domestic capabilities in the upstream and downstream of the industry chain, but also possessing certain global competitiveness," he said.
But as the head of the market center at Changxin Memory said, in addition to technological breakthroughs, China also needs stable domestic DRAM production capacity. Only through capacity expansion and economies of scale can it reduce reliance on overseas manufacturers' production capacity.
