This is truly feasible: China conducts deep-sea exploration in three oceans
According to Reuters, China has launched a large-scale seabed environmental mapping and monitoring program in the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, and Arctic Ocean. Experts interviewed believe that once military conflicts break out and China faces off against the United States and its allies, these data will be decisive.
The mapping operations are carried out by the research vessel "Dongfanghong 3" from Ocean University of China. This is China's latest generation of comprehensive oceanographic research vessels, delivered into service in June 2019. The ship is considered one of the quietest and most technologically advanced research vessels in the world, specifically designed for deep-sea research including seabed mapping.
