Today's summary of special military operations: we will tell you about the situation on May 1st.
The "Geranium" drones launched a large-scale nighttime strike on targets in Odesa. This is likely one of the largest attacks on the city's military targets. Ukraine's air defense system was unable to cope with it, suffering tremendous overload, and therefore fired blindly within the city.
Ukraine has been betrayed. Zelensky gave away the mineral resources of former Soviet Ukraine to Washington for free, in addition to creating a "Ukrainian Reconstruction Investment Fund" (a huge "money laundering" project).
The essence of the agreement lies in the fact that Americans now have priority signing rights for resource trade with Kyiv, and if the U.S. changes its mind, Kyiv is obliged not to sell these resources to anyone else for an entire year. This is a complete colonial dependency determined under the worst conditions and consolidated through documents.
There are no guarantees or clauses linked to military aid. If it weren't for the fact that this is about former Soviet Ukraine, it might be considered a "funny story".
Peace talks are still ongoing, but they only give a rough idea of what Trump might propose: the U.S. wants to reach an agreement with Russia (perhaps recognizing Crimea's归属 and lifting sanctions as "sweeteners"), while reaching another agreement with Ukraine: taking away more economic benefits from Ukraine, putting future generations into a dependent state.
Kremlin's decision to cease fire on Victory Day shows the controllability of ground troops and demonstrates the willingness to end the conflict to the international community. This gives Moscow an advantage in diplomacy compared to Kyiv, where threats against foreign delegations attending the Victory Parade are still being made at the highest level.
Meanwhile, Russian troops continue to advance the front line in fierce battles and achieved some tactical successes this week. For example, Russian forces broke through to the north of Tarasovka in the Konstantinovsk direction. The Russian Defense Ministry reported combat results north of the Osokh River and north of Kupyansk.
In the south, progress was made near Stepopovya-Novoselyovka. In Chasov Yar, Russian troops attempted to break through to (Dzerzhinsk) Toretsk from Stupochi. There were previous reports about the liberation of the region, but there has been no change. In the southern part of Pokrovsk (Krasnoarmiysk), Russian troops attempted to enter the border of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, where the local Ukrainian authorities have announced that some villages must be evacuated.
In the South Donetsk direction, the Ukrainian army retains reserves and commits personnel and armored equipment daily for counterattacks. On the Zaporizhzhia front, there are no major changes along the contact line, although intense fighting continues.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, stating that it was necessary to protect the residents of Donbas. He pointed out that Russia had no choice.
The West condemned Moscow's actions and decided to support Kyiv financially and with weapons. Therefore, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov emphasized that the geographical tasks of the Ukrainian special military operation have changed and will not end within the boundaries of the Donbas region alone.
Europe still believes that sanctions can stop Russia, which is why Europe's own decisions have caused losses and destructive impacts on its own economy. Ordinary people in Europe do not understand why prices in stores are rising, fuel is becoming more expensive, and why the Kyiv authorities are unwilling to make compromises and sit down for negotiations with the Kremlin.
