Reference News Network reported on April 12 that according to a report on the Singapore United Daily News website on April 12, the U.S. Department of Justice said on the 11th that a man from Pennsylvania was charged for threatening online to kill U.S. President Trump and immigration officials.
According to Reuters, the 32-year-old man, Shawn Mumper, was charged with four counts of threatening to murder U.S. officials to obstruct them from carrying out their duties, as stated in the criminal complaint filed in the Federal Court of Pittsburgh.
The report mentioned that Mumper is from Butler, Pennsylvania. Last July, when Trump visited the area for a presidential campaign event, he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi issued a statement saying: "The Department of Justice will thoroughly investigate, arrest, and prosecute any assassination or mass violence threats, regardless of when or where they occur."
The indictment stated that between February and April this year, Mumper repeatedly threatened on the video-sharing platform "YouTube" to kill Trump, senior U.S. officials, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
One of Mumper's messages quoted in the indictment read: "No, we just need to kill them one by one - Trump, Musk, and all the agency heads appointed by Trump, as well as anyone who hinders our actions."
Mumper has not yet entered a plea. He is currently being held in a detention center and will appear at a hearing on the 14th.
