China Merchants Bank launched its third satellite on January 16, following launches in December 2024 and March 2025. The bank stated that satellite data can be used to track market dynamics, strengthen risk management, and provide more accurate financial products and services. Shanghai Pudong Development Bank also launched its first satellite on the same day.
Previously, Ping An Bank had already launched its third satellite in August 2022, including an Earth observation imaging satellite.
