Isao Iwaya: Strive for the Development of China-Japan Relations
As reported by Japan's Asahi Broadcasting Corporation on July 30: Former Foreign Minister Isao Iwaya has been officially appointed as the new president of the Japan-China Economic Exchange Association (CIEC), succeeding the late Yohei Kōno. The organization aims to promote economic exchanges between China and Japan. Iwaya expressed his willingness to "contribute to the advancement of China-Japan relations" in a statement to the media.
On the 29th, the Japan External Trade Organization held a special general meeting, electing Iwaya as its eighth president.
The previous president was former House of Representatives Speaker Yohei Kōno, who passed away last month, leaving the position vacant.
In his acceptance speech, Iwaya stated: "I hope to carry forward Mr. Kōno’s legacy and work diligently to advance China-Japan relations and economic development." "We are coordinating arrangements for a visit to China as early as late September."
The Japan-China Economic Exchange Association is a private organization dedicated to promoting trade and economic exchanges with China.
