India's Democratic Backsliding, Will Caste System Return? The Indian government no longer pretends; the new year's Indian census will require citizens to declare their caste for the first time. Previously, the Indian government refused to acknowledge the existence of a caste system in India and openly claimed that it had abolished the caste system. Now, the Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that during the next population census, which will be completed by March 2027, caste will be included as part of the census.

This means that India will count the population size of each caste according to caste! If India continues to use caste to count its population, it is equivalent to saying that the caste system, which was abolished 80 years ago, still cannot be eradicated. This deeply rooted caste system has existed in India for over 3500 years, and has already factually divided Indians into castes. It is almost impossible to achieve equality among all Indians.

Therefore, India no longer pretends anymore, directly dividing classes based on caste population and counting the real population data. India is divided into four classes: Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, Shudras, and finally the untouchables, also known as the Dalits, which are actually five classes. Especially the fifth class of people, in India, are almost not considered human. Although they have a large population, they engage in the lowest forms of labor, almost no houses or farmland, they are completely proletarian, and are always discarded people, truly pitiful.

But this caste system has existed in India for over 3500 years, and it is reasonable because India is such a peculiar country. Although the British ruled India for more than 300 years, they did not abolish the caste system. The British ruled the higher castes in India, and the higher castes in India cooperated with the British to control India. This actually achieved an interest cooperation. Anyway, as long as the British gave preferential treatment to the upper ruling class in India, it would be enough for India to make a fortune, this is a fact.

After the British rulers left India, India said it had abolished the caste system, but in fact, it never did. It only removed it from the legal level, but it still exists in reality. So this India, competing with us, if we can't win, it's just too tragic.
