Foreign Media: China's lunar research station may deploy robotic dogs to "guard the gate" and patrol the premises.
Researchers from the China Academy of Space Technology published a proposal in the journal *China Space Science and Technology*, envisioning a collaboration between three astronauts and intelligent robots: one astronaut operates two robotic dogs to conduct patrols on the lunar surface and identify potential hazards, another collects rock samples and conducts scientific research, while the third remains inside a pressurized rover to oversee tasks and coordinate other robots.
These customized robots will undertake core missions such as resource extraction (recovering water ice and minerals), constructing habitats using lava tubes, and performing construction with local materials. They will also handle routine inspections, environmental control, cleaning, planting, meal preparation, and other logistical duties. Additionally, they can accompany astronauts in conversation to alleviate loneliness. The study emphasizes that future lunar exploration will rely on a model of "astronaut-led decision-making combined with robot autonomous execution," driving human space activities from Earth orbit toward the Moon.
