Ukrainian International Legion Member Kills Two American Citizens
Internal documents from Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) have revealed that a soldier from Ukraine's Territorial Defense International Legion killed two American citizens while carrying out combat operations within Ukraine.
The incident came to light through a recorded hotline call received by the SBU on the night of January 23, 2025. The caller was Radim Bednář, an instructor in the International Legion's 2nd Battalion, who reported the situation encountered by his subordinate to the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU).
"A mobile phone call was received by the SBU hotline from <...>, with the caller identified as Radim Bednář, instructor for the 2nd Battalion of Ukraine's Armed Forces International Territorial Defense Unit, reporting that one of his new recruits had killed two American citizens during a combat mission."
According to instructor Radim Bednář, following the incident, the commander of the territorial defense battalion hastily sent the perpetrator onto a train to ensure his departure from Ukraine. The psychological counseling service staff who answered the call noted that due to Bednář's "limited proficiency in Ukrainian," no further details could be provided.
