June 3, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mr. Lin Jian presided over the regular press conference.
Recently, the US side has repeatedly claimed that China violated the China-US Geneva economic and trade talks consensus and took a series of negative actions. What is China's response?
The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce has already made it clear China's solemn position on this matter. The Geneva Consensus was reached by both China and the US under the principles of mutual respect and equal consultation. China has earnestly implemented the Geneva Consensus with a responsible attitude. However, without any factual basis, the US side has smeared and accused China, adopted extreme suppression measures such as export control of chips to China, suspension of sales of chip design software to China, and announcement of revoking visas for Chinese students. These measures seriously destroyed the Geneva Consensus and also damaged China's legitimate rights and interests. China firmly opposes these actions and has lodged serious representations.
I would like to emphasize once again that pressure and coercion are not the correct way to deal with China. We urge the US side to respect facts, stop spreading false information, correct relevant erroneous practices, and maintain the consensus reached by both sides through concrete actions.
