The naming and launching ceremony for the 3,000-ton submarine "Shōgei" (Xiangjing), built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for Japan's Ministry of Defense, took place at the Kobe Shipyard.

The "Shōgei" is the seventh vessel in the Ōkuninushi-class, the successor to the Maritime Self-Defense Force's current mainstay submarine class, the Sōryū. After completion of equipment integration, it is scheduled to be delivered to the Ministry of Defense by fiscal year 2027.
