The Czech court has approved the extradition of a far-right extremist who has completed legal gender transition to Germany

The regional court in Plzeň ruled that Marla Swannie Libich, a convicted far-right extremist, should be extradited back to Germany. The ruling is not yet effective; Libich has eight days from receiving the verdict to appeal to the Prague High Regional Court.

Before the verdict was announced, Libich had requested the presiding judge's recusal, which was denied. Until the final decision, she remains incarcerated in a men’s prison in the Czech Republic—one of the country’s most strictly supervised facilities, housing over 1,200 inmates, mostly serious offenders.

Libich was sentenced in Germany on charges of inciting hatred, defamation, and insulting others, and is required to return to serve her sentence. Her specific place of incarceration has not yet been determined. According to Bild newspaper, even if German authorities intend to revoke her legal gender change registration, she may still be sent to a women’s prison.

After being sentenced in Germany, Libich changed her legal gender from male to female. Critics argue this move was deliberately provocative and an abuse of laws related to gender self-determination.

On August 29, 2025, Libich was supposed to report to a women’s prison in Chemnitz, Germany, but instead chose to flee. She was apprehended in the Czech Republic in April this year and has remained in local custody since.
