[Russia Can Launch 1,000 Drones Per Night? Ukrainian Air Force Responds]

On June 7, Yurii Ignat, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, stated that Russia is increasing the number of drones it launches at Ukrainian cities during nighttime. Ukraine needs to strengthen its countermeasures.

Previously, online platforms and some military experts speculated that Russia was preparing to significantly intensify its attacks on Ukraine, claiming that a single attack might involve "over a thousand drones." In response, Ignat commented, "There have been various claims, whether about Shahed drones or those acting alongside decoy drones. There's no need to panic excessively, but we must prepare for (the increase in numbers), as this trend objectively exists."

He introduced that the production of Russian drones is on the rise, but Russia is also increasing the use of decoy drones because expanding the production of offensive drones is costly.

"The enemy is increasing numbers through decoy drones; although these drones are not Shaheds, they still pose a certain threat. Theoretically, the 'thousand' figure can be mentioned, but based on our observed data (such as previous large-scale attacks), we see that the nightly launch volume from the enemy has approached 500."

Ignat stated that Ukraine needs to fully counteract, including electronic warfare systems, short-range air defense weapons, and drone air defense systems.

In recent months, the number of offensive drones and decoy drones launched by Russia against Ukraine has continued to increase. For example, on the night of June 1, Russia set a new record by launching 472 drones in a single attack.

The Ukrainian Air Force had previously warned of an intensified drone attack by Russian forces. President Zelenskyy once stated that Russia was preparing to produce 300-350 drones per day, "which could stockpile thousands within days and launch attacks."
